Mayo — Paul Henry Maurer

May 17, 1928 - Jan. 4, 2012



Paul Henry Maurer, 83, of Mayo, Fla., passed away on Jan. 4, 2012 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla. following a brief illness. Mr. Maurer was born on May 17, 1928 in Garrett Indiana to the late Oliver Maurer and the late Ilene Johnson Maurer. Mr. Maurer moved to Mayo in April of 2011 from Eagletown, Okla., where he lived for the last four years. Prior to that time, he lived in Suwannee County for over 30 years. He worked as a farmer and Long Haul Truck Driver and enjoyed raising cattle and farming hay. He also enjoyed going to auctions in his spare time. Mr. Maurer was preceded in death by a son, Paul Maurer Jr. in 1999.

He is survived by, his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Maurer, of Mayo, 4 sons, John Maurer, of Greenwich, Ohio, James Maurer, of Willard, Ohio, Joseph Maurer, of Sycamore, Ill., and Steve Maurer, of Mayo, 2 daughters, Kathy Pate, of Bushnell, Fla., and Christine Williams, of Altamonte Springs, Fla., 1 brother, Wayne Maurer, of Albion, Ind., 2 sisters, Florence Outwater,  and Helen Smoker, of Bronson, Miss., 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. 386-294-2658

Imogene McKinney Crout

Aug. 9, 1925 - Jan. 6, 2012



Imogene McKinney Crout, 86, of Columbia, S.C. died on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. Born in Mayo, Fla., on Aug. 9, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Summer McKinney and Ruby Lee Suggs McKinney.

Mrs. Crout, a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, was a loving mother of two children, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Crout, of Columbia; sons, Harold Marvin (Sharon) Crout, of Statesburg, Ga.; Rick (Patricia) Crout, of Columbia; grand-daughter, Jessica Crout; grandson, Kelly (Melanie) Crout; great grandchildren, Emi and Riley Crout. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, and one sister.

A funeral service for Mrs. Crout was held 2 o’clock, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Reformation Lutheran Church, 1118 Union St., Columbia, S.C., 29201, with The Rev. G.W. Bill Eiwen and The Rev. James Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the organ fund at Reformation Lutheran Church or to Solaris Hospice, 3937 Sunset Blvd. #B, West Columbia, S.C. 29169.
