Hornets down Eagles 39-11
The Hornets beat the Eagles of Mandarin Christian Friday night 39-11. Freshman quarterback Antwan Brown made big plays both on offense and defense. Brown started the game with a 64-yard rushing touchdown. And in the fourth quarter he continued to run the ball for two additional touchdowns.
"Antwan Brown came up big this week with a huge performance on both sides of the ball," said Coach Joey Pearson. In all Brown rushed for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns. Alan Driver rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown.
The relationship developed over the season between senior quarterback Nick Bracewell and senior receiver Brooks Laminack remained consistent with Bracewell's 21-yard pass to Laminack for a touchdown during the fourth quarter.
"We are happy to get another district win. We started a little slow and had some turnovers that stopped our momentum in the first half. Our guys kept fighting and we were able to put them away in the second half," said Pearson. "We have homecoming this week so hopefully we can go out and win this one and get ready for some big district games down the stretch."
