Hornets handle St. Johns Country Day 49-9
The Hornets went into battle with the Spartans Friday night and came out with a big win, defeating St. Johns Country Day School 49-9. Antwan Brown began the night with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown. Quarterback Nick Bracewell went 10-12 for 218 yards, throwing for two touchdowns. Treston Whidden stepped up for a 55-yard touchdown and an additional score.
“We played well on Friday,” said Coach Pearson. “A lot of guys touched the ball and I was happy with our execution.”
For the offense, Arthur Sellers dominated, with 90 yards rushing and a 30-yard passing touchdown from Bracewell. Negrete contributed with six successful extra point attempts.
“We are glad to be in the playoffs again. We are now preparing for a tough 8-1 Branford team,” said Pearson. “They have had a great year and are always ready for us. Our guys are going to be excited and ready to play it should be a great game.”
The Hornets are now 7-2. After Branford this Friday, they will play at Jefferson County for the first round of playoffs in their fifth consecutive postseason appearance.

Lafayette girls win titles
Lafayette 12-under softball team captured the Disrict 6 all-star tournament title this past weekend in Madison County and will advance to state in July.

Hamilton, Lafayette move on in All-Stars
LIVE OAK-Thirty teams began their road to the state tournament this weekend, competing in the District 6 all-star baseball tournaments June 10-13 at the First Federal Sportsplex.
The double elimination tournaments featured teams from Branford, Fort White, Hamilton County, Jefferson County, Lafayette County, Lake City, Madison County, Perry, Suwannee, Suwannee Valley (Trenton), Union County and Wakulla County.
Teams from the ages of 9-15 competed with teams from each age group advancing to their respective state tournaments. -
