The 50th Anniversary reunion of the LHS 1955-56 Boys Basketball Team and Hornet Cheerleaders will be held at Lafayette High School on Dec. 16, 4:30 until 9:15.
The Commemoration Celebration is in honor of Coach Al Beach and Members of the 1955-56 LHS Boys Basketball Team....the highest scoring team in history at LHS.
Team accomplishments were Conference Champion, District Champion and State Finalist.
Members of the team are Billy Baker, Doyle Bell, Keith Buchanan, William Geiger, Ben Hooper, Vasco Koon, Levis Odom, Jimmy O'Steen, Charles Thomas, Howell Walker and Woodrow Wilder.
Coaches were Al Beach and Mike Kovolick and Managers were Randell Walker and Bernard Webb.

Lady Hornets receive championship rings
Lafayette High School Lady Hornets won the 2011-12 Class 1A Girls Volleyball State Championship on November 16, 2011 with 20 wins and 1 loss. There have been many celebrations to honor them and the latest event was a ring ceremony held in Mayo at the LHS gym on Thurs. March 22, with the entire staff and student body in attendance, along with Superintendent of Schools Tom Lashley.
