Live Oak — Dallas O. Bland

Dallas O. Bland, age 87, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City, Fla.

The Robersonville, N.C. native moved to Live Oak in 1942. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WWII. Dallas was a self employed contractor who in his spare time enjoyed woodworking, loved taking his girls fishing and enjoyed bird hunting. He also loved riding in the country on Sunday afternoons and visiting with his friends and neighbors and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Marchetia Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Langford Bland, Live Oak, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie Poole, Live Oak, Fla.; Shan’na Smith, Mayo, Fla.; two brothers, Paul Bland Greenville, N.C. and Bob Bland, Live Oak, Fla.; one sister, Clara Williams, Washington, N.C.; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Herrington & Rev. Clare Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, c/o First Baptist Church of Live Oak, 401 W. Howard St., or c/o Wellborn Baptist Church, US 90 West & Lowe Lake Rd., Wellborn, FL 32094.
