Una Aileen McNeese Witt, 94, of Mayo, Fla., passed away peacefully at her home Monday Oct. 22, 2012.  She was a daughter, given by the Lord, to the late William Roy and Cora McNeese on March 20, 1918 in Baileyton, Tn.  In the months prior to her passing, she had expressed to her family, her desire to depart and be with the Lord. Una was married Aug. 16, 1951 to Marvin Edward Witt.  She taught elementary education in the public school systems in Tn. and Fla. for 38 years.  Mrs. Witt was a selfless woman who found joy in serving her Lord and family. She thoroughly enjoyed working in her garden, traveling, cooking, playing piano, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Marvin Edward Witt, in 1992, 3 brothers, Doyle, William Jr., and Cameron McNeese, and a sister Dorothy Lawrence.
Mrs. Witt is survived by her son, Jimmy Witt, and wife Kay, of Mayo, 2 granddaughters,
Hillary Byrd, and husband Maury, of Mayo, and Karen Piedra, and husband Carlos, of Gainesville, Fla., 7 great-grandchildren, 3 longtime caregivers who Una and family thank for their care, Leslie Eason, Vilma, and Mary, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Witt will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday Oct. 25, 2012 at Mayo Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Legg and Bro. Rick James officiating. Interment will follow in Airline Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Baptist Church Future Growth Fund.
