Opinion: It takes a community

Live Oak — Sometimes we tend to overlook those that help us out in ways that, whether by human nature or just by staying busy, we don’t realize until we stop and think.

We aren’t the New York Times or the Miami Herald. We are a community newspaper. And as such, we rely on the community to help us out. Just like we help you out by giving you information to read within the folds of our papers. Some of the information you may not like, but others might.

We took a moment recently to reflect on those that have helped shape our community news and were surprised to find the list transferring from a sticky note to a regular sized piece of paper.

There are those that take photos of sporting events and submit them for publication. Those that write stories that you often see in our paper, either with their byline or just submitted for the modest ones. Those that often tell us about certain events, or activities.

There are too many of you to name.

Without you, this newspaper and its website, suwanneedemocrat.com, would not be what it is now.

It isn’t just the publisher’s newspaper, or the editor’s or anyone else that receives a paycheck for putting it together.

It is the mothers, coaches, photographers, school personnel, community activists and the one that just submits information for the pleasure of helping out student athletes.

There is a piece of all of us in this newspaper. And for that, we say thank you.
