Live Oak —
How come it’s alright for the mayor to go home at noon everyday and not come back to work and we’re the taxpayers are paying him for full day. I called there and the secretary said he don’t work but half days.
Editor’s note: According to City Hall, there is no mention in the Charter or Ordinance how much time the mayor must contribute to his office. The mayor’s current salary, by the way, is $17,409.60 per year.

Please donate your used DVD's (movies) to the local library. I've seen all they currently have! And, yes, I know I need to get a life.

Will somebody in the City of Live Oak please address the citizens that insist on placing their garbage beside the road all week long stacked beside their garbage can? We have been blessed with a nice town but we need a little help with a few people. It is amazing what a rotten apple can do. Please city representatives help us with this problem it is not hard to move your garbage cans during the week so everybody does not have to see how disgusting you are especially in the city limits or subdivisions.

All along the BOCC sat down to a backroom high stake poker game. The pot was put up by taxpayers, not just local, the whole dang country. If'n they lose ain't no skin off their backside. Klausner can't lose, they just pack up the table & move on. The bankers, lawyers & real estate sharks already took their cut. Working folks here will have a lot of overpriced farmland, such a deal. This is why the BOCC shouldn't be involved with real estate speculation at all, win lose or draw.

DUH, it's about "our yard" not some place else, so you missed the point. The ag based economy & lack of enforcement locally is drawing immigrants of dubious status here while others are leaving. The burden placed on legal, educational & social services increases on perm. residents & prop. owners for people we don't have any idea who they are. No arguement that working aliens, legal or otherwise ,are preferable to meth heads. The meth culture is most prevelant in poor rural southern areas that lack job & educ. opprotunities. Most folks are tired of paying for either group & we need to clean up our political yard to improve this.

I am 101% against the Project Christmas sawmill deal. All of the contract is one sided and relies entirely on government/our money. I wish the government would give me some money for my business. Guess I'm out of luck since I already live here. "Just Say "No" to Project Christmas.

One of the biggest reasons students in Suwannee County do not do well is the lack of parental involvement. A big reason for this is the fact that the Suwannee County School Board (SCSB) does not require the teachers to send graded work home to be signed by the parents and returned! The parents are not mind readers and do not know what is or is not happening in the classroom.

To me it is crazy how we as Suwannee County folks pay all these extra taxes and if you drive down 95% of our paved roads they will beat the front end from under your vehicle. I hunt in a lease and our dirt roads are in better shape than the roads in and around Live Oak. I'm like what Clint Eastwood said if the people you hired to do the job ain't doing it let them go, think there is alot of folks that need to be let go.

As I picked my children up from school yesterday on the 11th anniversary of 911, they both informed my that nothing was said about the anniversary of September 11th. I was very surprised and very disappointed. The Principals could have at least made a "special" comment during their morning announcements! But I guess since they are removing prayers and GOD from schools, they feel they can remove the remembrance of 911!

I would like to praise our Suwannee Middle School Bullpups for a great season opener. I guess this is the only way they will be recognized. It is a digrace that these boys are our future Bulldog players and the highlights of their games never hit the Suwannee Democrat.Show these players some support and put their game highlights in the paper.

Has anybody researched the financial stability of Klausner? Makes more sense to me for the Commissioners to work with local companies instead of foreign companies. No one mortgages the ranch on pure speculation.

the state statue says white headlights, not blue or green headlights as seen here every night, local law must really be color blind....

I wanted to RAVE about all the effort DPW has spent on our City streets and right-of-ways this past week. Great Job guys!

I would like to thank the county and the guys for mowing along side of county rd 49. It looks and feels alot better out here.

Why is it that we have been trying to buy SHS season sports pass for the last 4 weeks to support the school and the computer used to take the pictures for the pass is still not up and running. Are you kidding me-school has been in session for 4 weeks and there are only 2 more home football games.

Congratulations to Commissioner Oxendine as he was the only one to see through the German smoke screen. This will literally bankrupt Suwannee County. it amazes me that so many people can't see the trees for the forest. Take heed Suwannee County. You and your children will be paying for this mess for decades to come. i am very disappointed.

I am completely incensed at our Commissioners for approving this hugely tax-payer subsidized contract with Klausner. This proves it is definitely time for Mr. Wainwright to be voted out of office. Also, Mr. Fleming, you are on the clock. Twenty-six months and counting. We need new educated leadership.

We will not reduce rabies in Suwannee County until we address the issue of feral cats. Feral cats are the number one transmitter of rabies to domestic pets and people.
