Jesse needs to leave the dirt roads alone, they are the only way to get around the county after Debby. Paving roads without fill, swales, culverts, or any other concern for drainage is a waste, period. Try spending the money on some road closed signs so you don't drive for miles to be forced to turn around in the dark on narrow shoulders. Maybe publish the arteries that are not open and won't be for quite awhile due to really poor planning & design. Act of God, natural disaster, it happened before & 50 yrs. later, with a much larger population (& tax base) response and preparedness by the road dep't. is not one bit better. Seems we haven't learned much from our obsession with "the past". We don't need Washington to declare a disaster area, it's quite obvious if you live here. This lack of infrastructure will reflect on "project christmas" no doubt.

The goverment talking heads rattle on about "entitlements", aren't they the same bunch that created the laws allowing this? Are they the only ones entitled to everything they can possibly grab by hook or crook? Sorry to say, this country has knocked off as many politicos as the Ceasers. In fact, with the huge money spent on sports, movie stars, stadiums etc. along with the uncontrolled excess of our leadership, both gov't & corporate, we are clearly following in Rome's footsteps & Nero's striking up the fiddle tune for us to dance to.

The USA is great cause of each person of every stripe in this country. Except for a few natives that survived the great experiment, we all came from somewhere we didn't much like. After a coupla hundred yrs., it's starting to show some cracks & each of us gotta help chink 'em up, not rely on windbag politicians. They don't make us great, more like keep us broke. Some might start off with lofty goals for mankind, but most for all they can grab. Once they git the job they're as irritating & hard to get rid of as red bugs in your butt crack. We just start figgerin' it's like a gum disease, not so bad ya cain't live with it. They just can't help it, so we gotta help them move along on election day.

Think maybe the only history some care about with BOCC is "where the bodies are buried" and making sure they stay there?

seatbelts are a safety device in your car or truck meant to save your life ,not always do they work properly for your protection ,,,but if you dont click it you get a ticket from the local police..however every taxpayin citizen who has a child in skewl is allowed by the county to place their child on a county maintained, everyday used vehicle to travel at sometimes an hour at a time without a seatbelt ,,lets get seatbelts on them school buses please

Mcalpin, 176th Road and off 125th Road, during flooding, many cars were stuck. Neighbors came to help with trucks or tractors. While doing so, our neighbors were greeted by two different men who claimed ownership of the county road. They screamed profanity and were intoxicated and even jumped onto a tractor and threatened him. There are 4 separate cases that are known. Police couldnt help due to flood waters and evacuations. When are these two men held accountable? Who gave ownership of these two roads to these people. I am still appalled and upset over it and what our other neighbors went through while getting stuck. The men who live there where the water flooded, you do not have the right to scare, harrass, use profanity and berate or claim ownership of county roads. I will remember when you need help and i will keep going.

My rant is... Does Live Oak have a Mayor or not? All during the storm of Debbie and the condition of Live Oak after she left.. I have "NOT" hear a single word from our Mayor... What did he get washed away? I felt all thru the coverage on nation and world news that the sheriff was the spoke person for the town of Live Oak. Thank you for everyone but the Mayor for the support...

Where is the county? We live on 25th and have not seen a single county worker!! there is no passable road out of here. There is a washout at 25th and sr240 you could park an RV in. WTH???

We do need someone on the BOCC that knows the history of Suwannee County. Yes, we do have minutes of the meetings, however some of the Commissioners can't remember how they voted last month or what County Policy is so I don't see them going back and researching the past minutes. It doesn't matter how long a person has held office as long as they are working to improve Suwannee County.

To our community, please give us information on area charities, organizations, agencies, churches that you donate to or need donations! We know some but we know there are more out there. We friends and family all around that have been wanting to help out our area. We know local people that will volunteer as well. One is shy but has worked for a South Florida City Building Division and was there during the 2004-2005 hurricanes. She dealt with FEMA and knows some of the paperwork can be confusing. If you need help there is this Rant and Rave. MANY local people want to help and MANY local people need help. Show community spirit (not just after a storm) but all of the time!

Has the city lost their minds? What sense does it make to take water from one place and flood another instead,to make it worse it's the backyard to where 4 children play. They say it's "fresh water", yeah okay, I'm convinced!

A big thanks to the people from the Health Department who gave up their weekend this past Saturday and Sunday to check in on families still stranded by flood waters. It means a lot to us and is much appreciated.

A beautiful, large swimming pool; a really nice Intermediate School next door; yet, no swim instructions are included in the school's P. E. program.

Re;july 14 city council pres. Says the city should not pump water from private property. It is the owners responceability to get the water to the road. So if your house is flooded you had better get a pump. What words does this man not understand. emergency, disaster, flood. What I did learn at the meeting is that if your dog takes a crap on his lawn. Hewill introduce an ordnance to prevent it from happening again! Gives me a warm feeling to know that he has my best intest at heart. Where the hell are his pprioritys!

I would like to rave about the Church of Christ on 51 that saved me and my family by giving me diapers, water and food and the deputy that brought it to me. I want to rave about the help that I got from Church of Christ and that deputy. I just think it’s great. They’ve given me enough food to last, I don’t know, a week or so and it really helped. Thank you.
****
I just wanted to tell all the people that voted our county wet, I just wanted to know if they think it’s wet enough.
****
I was a victim of the water. I want to thank the sheriff’s corporal that gave me $100 out of his pocket. May God bless him and his family.

I would like to know why in the McAlpin area the county has forgot all about us where we’ve been flooded in. I live on 174th Street and had a National Guard truck turn around in my driveway and never checked on us back at the start of the wetness. I roads been watered in up by 53rd and 174th for two weeks now and the county has not did nothing. If they’d get out here and take care of somebody in this area of the county like we don’t pay taxes. We do. We may can get in and out a little bit. All they got to do is bring some millings out and dump them in the wet spots where you can drive through them and it wouldn’t take long at all. Thanks. I hope people remember this county commissioner or this thing we got called county commissioner when it comes time again.

A HUGE rant to you,Suwannee Democrat, for your photo galleries. The pictures are impossible to look at with PROOF written across each one.

The "God Partical" cartoon in this weeks paper is ridiculous.
The Higgs boson has been referred to as the "God particle" in popular culture, although virtually all scientists regard this as a hyperbole.
The cartoon is just another religious ploy to propagate creationism.
