To the guy that has a lawsuit with the city and county becuase of sex offender ordinances get over it or move people like you should be locked up for good for what you did. You should have to pay every penny you ever make to the child you molested. You are useless
For the record, the man filing the lawsuit was the father of the convicted sex offender. - Editor

I think the reason the Public Works Director, Don McKenna, isn't receiving the information from OMI is because he wouldn't even know what he was reading. Based upon discussions with various contractors, he doesn't even understand what is happening at City Hall. The City Administrator is not the problem with this issue, it is the Public Works Director. The City simply needs to hire a competent Public Works Director.

Both the Suwannee Democrat and Mr. Prins missed the substance of the OMI story. The reason Mr. McKenna isn't "in the loop" is because he wouldn't know what to do if he received any information. Once he attempts to provide reports to the Council for several months it will become apparent why he wasn't included as a point of contact.
We addressed this question in our July 16 editorial (New blood, online at suwanneedemocrat.com). Let's watch this one closely and see how it plays out. - Editor

OK, so it is Saturday the 17th and we all decide to go swimming. We have three carloads and we decide to go to Royal Springs first, and a 2-3 foot gator decides to swim with us so we decide to leave. Then we decide to go to Ivey Park to go swimming. Everything was all fine and dandy until a bunch of young adults in their mid 20’s decide to come up and jump off of the railing into the swimming hole, and one of them decides to take a poop in the water. This is not only childish but disgusting. To the guy that actually took the poop in the water, please stay out of Suwannee County swimming holes. We would really appreciate it. Besides it is not “Way Down Upon the Poopy River.” Thank you.

Yeah, I would like to comment on the letter that Barry Baker wrote. Thank you, Barry. Somebody needs to look out for the taxpayers and the citizens. It sounds to me like that if the county coordinator and the county commissioners would have been doing their jobs, Barry would’ve never had to write the letter to begin with. Sounds to me like he was trying to find out the real and proper name and real and proper what was going on on the land out there that somebody was trying to get a deed to 100 acres of free clear land. For that kind of deed, I’ll come over there and put in a business. Thank you very much.

While the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) says it is
raising its millage rate for the first time in 10 years, you really
need to look at its yearly budget. I'd bet my bottom dollar this
year's budget is way-over its budget from 2000! "White man speak with
forked tongue." - old Indian saying.

People that put Allen Boyd in office, you who didn’t want the Republicans or the Democrats to pass the healthcare bill, Allen Boyd voted for it. Vote him out of office, please.

Dear Sir,
Could someone please clarify this question for me? Is gambling legal in the state of Florida? I see these so called internet cafes when you walk in they are just modified slot machines on computers. They take your money and give you money back. Just like in a regular casino.
Also I though betting on a pool game or dart game where one gets money back is also illegal?
I see signs around town about blind dart playing? Everyone who participates puts money in and the winner gets money back. Isn't that also illegal gambling?
Some can run gambling houses and others can't? Confused in North Florida.

Why are some people so willing to throw History out the window? We own 2 houses on Duval St. They were built in the late 1800's - early 1900's. We are restoring them & with Mr. Eric Musgroves help found out the property was originally bought by J. Americus Johnson in the early 1800's from The United States Of America! How often do you see something like that? The street at that time was (as it still is so far) Duval St.
Duval St. is a big part of Live Oak history & should stay as such. We feel very lucky to have found a place where we can be a part of American History. It is becoming harder & harder to find.
There are other ways to honor "new" people. Make a plaque of some sort, build a new park & name it after Him or Her - Whatever!
History should be RESPECTED, not discarded as Trash.
I would hope that everyone who lives on Duval St. takes pride in living on such a piece of Historical value. It does make a difference. It will make a difference for ever.

With the amount of vehicle accidents on US 90 that I have read about and heard about lately, isn’t it time to widen the road and/or erect a barrier wall between the east and west lanes of this dangerous stretch of road between Live Oak and Lake City? With a speed limit that matches those of a four-lane expressway, and many motorists who ignore the posted limits no matter what road they travel, it’s a wonder that there aren’t more fatal accidents to report. Many people from Live Oak travel this road twice daily to and from work, so it would make sense to make it a safer route for our Suwannee County residents. Better yet, why don’t we bring more businesses to our town, so that folks don’t have to travel on a two-lane treacherous highway to another county to find work? Hey, there’s an idea!
