Live Oak — The person who thinks raising the tax on alcohol and tobacco would fix the national debt by making it a "Sin Tax" must have never heard of another "great idea" called Prohabition. The US Government has tried it and people went to the hills and produced Moonshine to avoid paying taxes.

The cure for the national debt is to stop spending more than you take in, without forcing one group to pay more.

Here's an idea that will get the town talking: Tax church properties that are not part of the actual worship building. This would be Sunday School rooms, Fellowship Halls, preachers housing, cars, etc. I bet this will raise some comments from the holy rollers!!

Was in the Post Office, stood in line 28 minutes while the postal workers wrapped taped and stamped peoples personal items to be mailed. People this is going beyond the call of duty. Have your packages prepared to be mailed when you get to the Post Office,you are holding up others that need to get back to work and make a living.

This is to the people over the gun problem , its not the guns it is your kids. weather they are 10 or 45 they are still your kids.. so teach them the rules of safe gun handling .. and I will still get to eat deer meat. and a few old fashion wipings would not hurt none of them.. they have very little or no respect for anyone.

Alcohol on Sunday, It could be said the voters did speak in the overall wide margin the archaic law was changed & the election results for the BOCC reflect a majority of residents want things different. It is a must if we wish to attract investment by the national chain restaurants. With all due respect to the faithful, it is high time we quit having economic & legislative policy set by non-taxpaying churches.

Please consider a charter & term limits so we can avoid being moribound in the future by allowing 20+ yr. special interest office holders.

There has been much debate about nativity creches placed on public property, but its concerning when you can't even find them in front of our local churches.

Kudos to Suwannee County Resource Officer Brad Mincks who is resource officer for the Branford Elementary & Middle Schools. He always has such a great attitude, is friendly, helpful & is always smiling. Officer Mincks takes an interest in our children and does his best to see that they stay on the right path and makes sure they are safe. Not only does he remain friendly to the parents but the staff as well. Great job Officer Mincks!!! We truly appreciate what you do!!

This is to the kid that drives a Black GMC pick-up outlined in bright lime green around Live Oak. I almost rear ended you, becuase of your black tail lights. When you step on the brakes you cant see them. You take pride and customizing your vehicle!! But guess what? One day someone will rear end you, and those blaCK tail lights won't be so pretty then. Will they?

To the person talking about the parking at the football games in live oak. I have been to games in lake city and they charge to park at their games. I bet you would be the first one mad if they charged here to park to watch football.

When is the City of Live Oak going to do something about the deplorable conditions of the roads inside of the City? A couple of years ago work was done to repair the sewer lines and now the roads are a patchwork of repairs, dips, and bumps. The ONLY roads in the City that are in decent shape are the ones the State maintains.

Gun “control” will only affect law abiding citizens, rendering them helpless. We do not have enough cops now and taking the guns away will only make things worse. Making gun ownership will not denture any one from committing a felony. You are giving the government control of every aspect of our lives. Do you want them to take your rights?

To the peron who wants the government to control guns. It's not the honest American keeping a gun to protect himself and his family that you have to worry about. If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.

The children's section of the Suwannee River Regional Library in Live Oak has an extensive set of teacher/parent resources to be used to teach academic as well as social skills.

If we end up with three Pre-K though Fifth Grade elementary schools, what will they be named? Any thought given to individual names of past educators? Let's have each one be named after someone or something that is unique and not School A, School B, and School C!

Suwannee County has some beautiful canopied roads. Let's always protect our friends - the trees! Just take a leisurely drive out Bass Road to see some pretty tree coverings. Also, there is a nice area out near where Rosemary Baptist Church is - just beyond the church, but before the inspection station. Worth the drive!

The old Hughes Highway which is now !29th Road needs some clear indicators via traffic signs all the way from 252 to 51. Motorists "fly" down the highway. It would be nice to have some frequent monitoring folks' speed throughout the day. It is really bad in the morning and then again as people are returning from school and work around 3:30 - 6:00 PM. Please help!

People need to wake up and not give up any rights. History will show those who gave up their guns will eventually be staring down the barrel of those guns. Like Ronald Reagan said "The scariest words you can hear is I'm from the govenment and I'm here to help" In 2010 more people were killed by hands feet and fists than they were by rifles so I guess next we outlaw fists. Don't be stupid.
