Live Oak —
On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Christ.” Still others asked, “How can the Christ come from Galilee? Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David’s family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” -John 7:40-42
Just trust Jesus! Putting your faith in someone means you trust them. If you meet someone who can heal the sick, raise the dead - who raises himself from the dead - you can trust Him. If you meet someone who can bridge the gap between you and God, then you can Jesus. The only thing these people had to do to receive the abundant life, the joy from the wells of salvation, the living water flowing from their inmost being, was trust Jesus - whether they knew where he was coming from or not!
The Fact is Jesus did come from King David's family line.
The Fact is Jesus, although He lived in Galilee, He was actually born in Bethlehem, and fulfilled the messianic prophecy!
They didn't know where Jesus came from, and that raised questions. Sometimes you may not always know where Jesus is coming from. Jesus starts to work in your life, He starts asking things of you that you didn't expect! And you might say, "Hey wait a minute, I don't know exactly where you’re coming from on this Jesus!” And just like the people in this passage, Jesus wants you to trust him even if you don't know where He's coming from!
* Likely when he's trying to talk you into turning loose of garbage, it's so he can fill your hands with treasure!
* He's trying to get you to turn loose of habits so he can fill your hands and arms with blessings!
* He's trying to get you to turn loose of bad attitudes so he can fill you with peace and joy!
* He's trying to get you to turn loose of resentment and bitterness so he can fill you up with love and forgiveness!
* He's trying to trade your garbage for his gold. So just trust Jesus, even when you don't know where he's coming from!
