The Suwannee County Historical Museum is proud to announce a new program called “Suwannee County Reflections.” This program will be a series of forums and discussions having to do with the rich and diverse history of Suwannee County and its people. According to Randy Torrance, executive director and curator for the museum, “the purpose of this program series is to fulfill the museum’s vision to protect, preserve and interpret Suwannee County’s history.”
This program series will begin on Tuesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. The series will continue on the first Tuesday of each month, and will be held in the freight room of the Suwannee County Museum.
The forums will be led by local author Eric Musgrove. Musgrove has recently written a book about the history of Suwannee County. Called, “Reflections of Suwannee County,” this book will be the basis upon much of these program topics are based. Although it is not required for participation in the program, Musgrove’s book is available through the museum’s gift shop and will be available during program events. This program series is free to the public and open to all ages.
The museum is located at 208 N. Ohio Avenue in Live Oak in the historic Atlantic Coastline freight station. Operating hours are Tuesday - Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., closing from 12 - 1 pm for lunch. Admission is free, donations are accepted. The museum’s phone number is 386-362-1776. The museum’s Web site is www.suwanneemuseum.org.
