Live Oak —
Brandon Cunningham, the 18-year-old Suwannee High School student who crashed into the back of a school bus last week, is out of the hospital and back at home his family said.
“Brandon is doing better,” said aunt Susan Ramsey. “He’s out of the hospital but has some recovering to do.”
Family members said that the sun was shining brightly as it was coming up early Wednesday morning, Dec. 19 and blocked his view of the road. The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on US 90 West at 74th Street, about three miles west of Live Oak.
Cunningham was air lifted to Shands Gainesville where he underwent immediate surgery and was placed in ICU. Ramsey said he is expected to make a full recovery.
Forty-eight students on the bus and the bus driver were sent to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center as a precaution. None of the occupants in the bus suffered serious injuries.
