Michael Ortiz
Anthony Michael Ortiz, 16, stood before a county judge for pre-trial in September 2012 at the Suwannee County Courthouse and his attorney was granted a continuance. His trial is currently slated for March 25-28 with jury selection for March 25. His original trial date was Oct. 22-26, 2012.
Ortiz, who will be tried as an adult, faces charges of first degree murder while armed, home invasion robbery while armed with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence in the April 2012 shooting death of Charles David Napier, 49.
According to local authorities, Ortiz admitted to murdering Napier at his home in Suwannee County on April 28. The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office stated that Napier was shot nine times with a .40 caliber handgun.
Shawn O’Bryan
The attorney for Shawn O’Bryan, the man accused of attempting to kill Shannon Wrench, was awarded a continuance during his pre-trial on Nov, 2012. O’Bryan’s trial date was tentatively set for Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, 2013, however, his continuance continues.
Shawn Patrick O'Bryan, 38, was arrested by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office at his home at 646 St. Andrew's Circle in Rantoul, Ill for attempted first degree murder of Shannon Wrench, 34, formerly known as Jane Doe. Wrench was found unresponsive and badly injured alongside a Suwannee County roadway July 16.
For three weeks and a day, Wrench was in a medically induced coma in a Gainesville hospital, suffering from multiple skull fractures, and major cuts and bruises. Eventually, Wrench started showing signs of improvement. She awoke from the coma on Tuesday, Aug. 7,
O’Bryan was transferred and booked into the Suwannee County Jail on Aug. 20, 2012.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer D. Mobley stopped by the Democrat offices Wednesday afternoon with this alligator that he had just caught in a Hamilton County pond. Mobley will be showing another alligator to students at Suwannee Primary School on Thursday along with other wildlife as part of an FWC event.
