The Arc North Florida is making the grass fly one more time this year with its Annual Benefit Golf Tournament.
There are more than 20 teams already registered for the event, at the Country Club of Lake City, with a limit of 100 players. Registration is open until Thursday.
According to Arc North Florida officials, they are excited about the response to this year’s event. They are still looking for more $75 hole sponsors.
Golfers have more than $8,000 in awards and prizes to look forward to on Friday. Prizes will be awarded for Gross and Net Teams, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and many more. The Hole-in-One winner at the Wes Haney Chevrolet of Live Oak hole will win a new Chevy truck.

All proceeds benefit The Arc North Florida, Inc., a nonprofit agency, that provides advocacy and services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Suwannee, Hamilton, Lafayette, Columbia and Baker counties.

FWC visits with gator
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer D. Mobley stopped by the Democrat offices Wednesday afternoon with this alligator that he had just caught in a Hamilton County pond. Mobley will be showing another alligator to students at Suwannee Primary School on Thursday along with other wildlife as part of an FWC event.
