Sheriff: Man attempted to burn down neighbor’s home

Live Oak — A Suwannee County man has been arrested after attempting to burn his neighbor’s home, according to reports from the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.

James Hughens, 50, 8826 157th Rd., Live Oak, placed a piece of lighter wood in a plastic milk crate filled with pine straw and placed it against the victim’s mobile home on April 26, according to the SCSO. Authorities say that Hughens then lit the crate afire, causing about $100 in damages to the home before the victim arrived and extinguished the fire.

According to reports, Hughens was arrested on April 27 on one count of arson.
