Live Oak —
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that there were 48 students on the school bus, ages ranging from pre-k to high school. Four of the students were "banged up" with minor cuts and bruises but otherwise OK, according to initial reports from Shands Live Oak CEO Richard Huth.
Route 36's bus, #39, was stopped in the eastbound lane of US 90 at 74th Street. An SUV, driven by a Suwannee High School student, was on his way to the high school driving east on US 90 when he struck the rear of the bus, according to Troop B spokesperson, Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace. The white male driver of the SUV was transported to Shands Gainesville with lower extremity injuries, Hisler-Pace reported.
Forty-eight students were on the bus and all were sent to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center as a precaution.
Hisler-Pace said the SUV driver was wearing a seatbelt. She stated that he was the only occupant in the SUV.
The name of the driver and photos of the wreck will be published once the name is released by FHP.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer D. Mobley stopped by the Democrat offices Wednesday afternoon with this alligator that he had just caught in a Hamilton County pond.
