Live Oak —
When a Live Oak man called authorities and stated that he was being held hostage at a particular residence, police promptly responded to find the residents asleep and the caller nowhere to be found.
According to records from the Suwannee County Jail, Ronald Gene Young, 54, 509 Stevens St., Live Oak, placed a 911 call during the early morning hours of Jan. 13 and advised authorities that he was being held hostage at a Live Oak address.
When officers from the Live Oak Police Department responded, the residents of the address were all sleeping and Young could not be found, records show.
After police left the residence, dispatch notified them that Young was placing calls from another location in the city, reports show. When police made contact with Young at that location, a cell phone was seen near him. Upon looking at the information on the telephone, police discovered that it matched the number of the one making the 911 calls.
Young was placed under arrest and charged with three counts of making false 911 calls and making a false report.
