Thousands will converge on the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park this weekend for the annual Wanee Music Festival.
This year’s event will feature the Allman Brothers Band, Furthur, Gov’t Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, Devon Allman’s Honeytribe, Fur Peace Ranch and many more talented acts.
General admission tickets are still available for $199.50 plus taxes and fees through Thursday at 7:59 a.m. Then the price goes up to $229.50 plus taxes and fees. Ticket prices include three full days of music starting Thursday and primitive camping Thursday through Saturday night.
According to a press release, the event will be held come rain or shine so all sales are final. There will be no ticket refunds or exchanges.
Traveling stages will also provide music throughout the park Thursday through Saturday. Music fans with iPhones can even go to the App Store and download the Wanee App. By doing so, schedules will be readily available to avoid missing any of the great musical events.
Music begins at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and continues until the early morning hours each day. Yoga will be held each morning at 9 a.m. in the main concert field.
For the first time, Wanee Music Festival will host Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch, one of the premier music workshops in the country. Wanee Fest and Fur Peace Ranch will hold workshops during the festival, along with question and answer groups with Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Mickey Hart, Oteil Burbridge, Warren Haynes and other Wanee 2012 performing artists. They will all be hosted by Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer Jorma Kaukonen. In addition to the great music, Wanee Music Festival and Conscious Alliance proudly announce their plans to host a food drive that will benefit the local community. All patrons who donate 10 non-perishable food items will receive a free limited-edition Wanee Music Festival poster created by a very special artist. All food donations will be collected at the Conscious Alliance “Art That Feeds Gallery,” which will be depicted on the Wanee Festival guide. Great Suwannee River Race is tomorrow
The Great Suwannee River gets underway this Saturday at Little River Spring with rafts, canoes and kayaks racing to Ivey Park in Branford. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Live Oak and the Rotary Club of Live Oak, the race is in its fourth year. Racing starts at 10 a.m. and awards will be given out at 1 p.m. Come join this group of fun seekers as they make their way anyway they can to the finish line.
