Live Oak —
An area newspaper reported Friday on an “apparent connection” between a bank robbery in Elgin, Minnesota and the nearby capture the following day of two fugitives in last week’s triple murder in McAlpin.
However, Wabasha County, Minn. Sheriff Rodney Bartsh told the Democrat Thursday that neither man was a suspect in the robbery there.
“We have ruled that out,” Bartsh said by email at 2:22 p.m.
James Lindsey Howze, 38, and Lonnie Robert Munn, 47, were captured early Thursday by authorities in Winona County at 3:40 a.m. Eastern time Thursday.
