Local man dead from multiple gunshot wounds

Live Oak — The body of a Suwannee County man was discovered Sunday evening in his 127th Place home, where he lived with his mother, Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron confirmed during an interview on Monday.

According to Cameron, Charles David Napier, 49, 6074 127th Place, Live Oak, was a victim of multiple gunshot wounds.

“It appears that Charles David Napier is a victim of homicide,” Cameron said.

Cameron added that Napier’s mother and other family members were out of town and that Napier had been cooking at the time of his death.

"There were no signs of forced entry,” Cameron said. He added that he is unaware of anything taken from the home.

The SCSO received the call at 7:12 p.m. Sunday evening from Napier's sister after the family returned from the trip.

“When deputies arrived they immediately called investigators,” Cameron stated.

According to Cameron, FDLE also arrived Sunday evening and processed the scene. Napier’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

“The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office is following leads at this time,” Cameron commented. “We are unsure of the time, but believe this happened Saturday.”

Cameron would not say what part of the home the body was found in nor how many times Napier was shot.

There have been no suspects named at this time and Cameron asks anyone who might have seen or heard from Napier, who was a local hairdresser, after 10 a.m., April 28, to please contact Jeff Cameron or Chris Fry at the SCSO. They can be reached at 386-362-2222.
