Live Oak — That’s right. No need to pinch yourself. It is true and wow, how fast it went. We have a new president, or the same president who will be sworn back in. The Republicans will continue to retain power in the House of Representatives and the Democrats will keep control of the Senate.
So you ask yourself. What has changed?
Well, we can tell you that locally, a lot has changed. For instance we now have a representative in congress that is not a career politician. We readily endorsed Ted Yoho and believe he will be a staunch conservative who will shake things up in Washington.
We have two new county commissioners. Jason Bashaw will represent District 1 and Ricky Gamble Jr. will represent District 3. They will do good things while on the board.
This election season was somewhat mild locally. Sure there was the typical mudslinging from the candidates and the usual emotional verbiage from the voters. But thank God we live in a country where we elect our leaders in open, oftentimes grueling, debates and so what if our voices get a little raised or we disagree?
Let us remember why we are electing these folks. They will represent you and make sure your tax dollars are wisely spent. If they don’t, well, there’s always 2016.
