CRA to guide bus tour in local cities

Reserve your seat by Jan. 2

Live Oak — The Live Oak Community Redevelopment Agency will be sponsoring a bus tour that will highlight local communities and how the CRA has benefited their cities. The tour will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, and will include lunch and several stops along the way.

The first bus stop will be in Gainesville. After a brief tour, the bus will head to High Springs for lunch and a look around the town. The group will eat lunch at the Great Outdoors in High Springs and will be joined by the city’s mayor and general manager.

The tour will conclude with a stop in Alachua. Guests will get to see what improvements the city has done through the efforts of the CRA.

According to the CRA, all of these locations have different amenities to highlight and each participant will have the opportunity to speak with CRA members who will share the successes and the things to avoid.

The goals of the CRA are to: remove slum and blight, create clean and safe places, prevent crime, encourage economic development, build or enhance affordable housing, fund street scape and other capital improvements, preserve historic buildings/resources, retain and recruit business, enhance parks and recreation and increase the tax database of the CRA district.

The cost for the tour is $10. Participants must purchase their own lunch.

The bus leaves at 8 a.m. from the UF/IFAS Suwannee County Extension Office, next to the Coliseum on 11th Street in Live Oak. Interested individuals must pre-register by Jan. 2, 2013 due to limited seating.

For more information or to register, call 386-362-2771.
