Live Oak — Gary Lee Prince

July 4, 1955 - April 17, 2012



Gary Lee Prince, age 56, of Wellborn, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Gary was a supervisor in the inventory business. He was born on July 4 and considered himself to be very lucky to have everyone celebrating “his” birthday. Gary was known to view life differently than others and appreciated what everyone had to offer.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Freeman; a daughter, Catherine J. Andrews; his father, Jasper Prince; an aunt, whom he lovingly referred to as “Ma”, Virginia Prince; his brothers and sisters, Dawn Hammond, Dan Forbes, Terry Kirton, Melody Lowe, Crystal Watson, Carole Farrabee, David Lollis, George Stephen, Jonathan Stephen and Pam Sandlin.

Per his wishes, Gary was cremated. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Melody Christian Center with Pastor Frank Davis officiating, assisted by Pastor Darrin Baldwin and Randy Jordan.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of immediate arrangements.

Charles Wesley George Jr.

April 21, 2012

Charles Wesley George Jr., age 50, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at his residence in Branford, Florida. Mr. George was born in Starke, Florida, to Charles George Sr. and the former Katie Burton. Coming from Suwannee County, Florida, he had lived in Branford for the past 10 years. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and worked on a dairy farm. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and farm work.

Survived by his wife of 12 years, Dawn George, of Branford, Fla., his parents, Charles and Katie Burton, of Suwannee County, Florida, a daughter, Alliemarie Rebecca George, of Branford, Fla., (2) brothers; David George and wife Dana, of Lafayette County, Fla., Josh George and wife Amber, of Columbia County, Fla., (2) sisters; Sandra Kines and husband Glenn, of Suwannee County, Fla., and Sharon Causey, of Mayo, Fla., numerous nieces, nephews, and two great-nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Midway Baptist Church on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Danny Rogers, officiating. Interment will follow at Midway Baptist Church.

Patricia “Granny" Mattox



April 19, 2012



Patricia “Granny" Mattox, age 69, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away Thursday, 11:50 p.m. on April 19, 2012 at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Patricia was adopted by a wonderful family in Miami, Fla., married, then moved to Live Oak in 1981.  She was a very loving housewife, worked with Feagle Sandwiches, and the sewing factory in Jasper. She loved to cook, crochet and make Victorian dresses for Barbie dolls. She was her happiest when she was making things for other people.  

Mrs. Mattox was preceded in death by her son, James Walter Saunders. Survivors include: Husband, Christopher Mattox, eight children & one step-child, Joseph "Dwayne" (Lisa) Saunders, West Palm Beach; Lorraine Saunders, Live Oak; Gene(Andrea) Saunders, North Carolina; Charles "Rick" (Monica) Saunders, West Palm Beach; Victoria Saunders Rogers, Live Oak; Sean (Christy) Saunders, Sebastian, Fla.; David (Christine) Saunders, Dublin, Ga.; Tanya (Mark) Saunders-Jensen, Jacksonville, Fla.; Christopher Mattox Jr., Palatka, Fla.; twenty grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Live Oak Christian Church, 1015 Ohio Ave. Final arrangements by ICS Cremation & Funeral Home, 386-752-3436.

Raivyn Brooke Summerfield

Feb. 6, 1998 - April 22, 2012



Raivyn Brooke Summerfield, 14, a resident of Wellborn, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Shands at the University of Florida of injuries sustained in an ATV accident. Raivyn was born on Feb. 6, 1998 in Mobile, Alabama and had been a resident of Wellborn for the past six years having moved with her family from Fort Worth, Texas. She had been an eighth grade student at Suwannee Middle School where she was active in the Student Council, the Art Club, the National Junior Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Raivyn was a very vibrant child that was “full of life”. She will forever be remembered by those who knew her for her love of the outdoors and her sweet carefree spirit. Raivyn was a “Facebook fanatic” who loved to text, dance, swim, play soccer, go fishing with her dad and “Maja” and spend time with friends and family. Raivyn attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Raivyn was preceded in death by her grandfather, Pete Barcia and her great-grandfathers, Dick Hessley and W.C. Cribbs. In keeping with Raivyn’s “love of life” her family donated her organs which have thus far provided life to numerous organ recipients.

Raivyn is survived by her parents, Tracie and Jason Hessley of Wellborn and Michael and Mary Summerfield of Lake City; her sisters, Autumn Summerfield and Kaitlyn Summerfield of Wellborn; her brother, Dylan Bass; her grandparents, Charles & Yvonne Brim of Wellborn; John and Brenda Summerfield of Live Oak; Betty Barcia of Lake City; and Jack and Gene Hessley of Chico, Texas; her great-grandparents; Louis and Mary Berry of Wellborn; Evelyn Hessley of Ohio and Jewel Cribbs of Live Oak and her “best friends” Cody Woods, Molli Humphrey, Skylar Osburn, Nathan Brown and Carmen Gray. Numerous other friends and family members also survive.

Memorial services for Raivyn will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Westwood Baptist Church of Live Oak with Bro. Rob Osburn officiating. Private family interment services will be conducted at a later date in the Rocky Sink Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shands Pediatric Unit % Shands Office of Development, P.O.
