SHS coach Ron Hall retired recently after 36 years of coaching various sports at Suwannee and Hamilton High Schools.
Hall was well known for taking the SHS boys track team to a state title in 2001. In 1979 he did the same with the girls track in Hamilton County.
“It’s been fortunate to have a lot of great kids that love to work hard and compete,” said Hall. “A coach is only as good as his athletes.”
Hall spent his time at SHS coaching boys track and as assistant coach with the football program. He also coached girls track before current coach Harrison Ambrose took over. At Hamilton, Hall coached boys and girls track, football and weightlifting.
Hall hinted he may not be retiring from school athletics completely.
“I feel like I got a few more years left,” said Hall. “I might end up someplace else.”
