Lady ‘Dogs take on Hamilton County

Play against Wakulla in district tournament Thursday at 7 p.m.

Live Oak — The Suwannee High School Lady Bulldogs wanted to make their last home game against Hamilton County a game that the four seniors on the team would remember.

However, the Lady ‘Dogs lost to Hamilton County Jan. 25, 73-61.

The 2012-13 Lady ‘Dogs honored seniors Amanda Glass, Kenyona Williams, Shakinna Jones and Lakendra Clayton.  All four seniors were started against Hamilton County.

Early in the first quarter Daycia Bandy went in for the layup putting the Lady ‘Dogs on the board first with two. The Trojans answered back quickly putting two on the board as well. Jones added two more for Suwannee tying the score up. Kyra McClendon shot for three back to back putting Suwannee back on top. Jones put seven more points on the board in the second quarter. The Lady ‘Dogs went in to half-time trailing 29-25.

The Lady ‘Dogs came back strong for the second half. McClendon started the third quarter off with three followed by Clayton who also shot for three. Clayton added another three three to Suwannee's score.

Bandy was in control of the ball for Suwannee in the fourth quarter by helping to tighten the gap and was continually sent to the free throw line. Unfortunately, the Lady ‘Dogs ran out of time to close the gap and take the lead.

Although Hamilton County defeated the Lady ‘Dogs on their senior night the team felt as if they had won because they played more as a team.

Team Manager Shalice McClendon shared that the team played as one more so than ever before.
