Live Oak —
The Suwannee High School lady soccer season has begun. The varsity team, with only five of the 20 girls from last year returning, along with four junior varsity call-ups, played Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 23 and 24 in the Gainesville Preseason Classic.
Each game was 40 minutes long and the ladies played hard and had a respectable showing. On Oct. 23, they lost the first game to a physical Columbia County team, 1-0. They rebounded quickly with an evenly matched game against Santa Fe and played to a 0-0 tie.
The ladies played again on Oct. 24 against Gainesville which resulted in a 2-2 tie. Their last game was against Eastside who also played them tough but resulted in a 2-1 loss for Suwannee. Their record at the end of the tournament was 0-1-2.
The regular season started Tuesday, Oct. 30 with both the J.V. and varsity who played at home against Hamilton County at 5 and 7 p.m. They play Hamilton in Jasper again on Thursday, Nov. 1.
Please come out and support your Lady ‘Dogs soccer team this year and see some hard fought contests.
