Lady Bulldogs face Atlantic Coast in district play

Girls performed well against tough rival

Live Oak — The Suwannee High School Lady Bulldog varsity soccer team traveled to Jacksonville Tuesday to face third seed Atlantic Coast on their field for the first round of the district playoffs. During the regular season, Suwannee lost to them 4-0 at home.

This game started out much different than the game in December. Both teams matched each other well, had an equal amount of shots on goal as eight and at the half the score was 0-0.

The second half started much differently though as Atlantic Coast got the first goal of the game on a shot over the head of Suwannee's keeper, just one minute in. The defensive battle continued until 16 minutes into the second half when Atlantic Coast scored their second goal with a corner kick which rebounded in. The final score was 2-0 and Suwannee's final record was 10-8-2.

This was the last game in a Suwannee uniform for three seniors, Esmarelda Gonzalez, Christine Mabey and captain Meghan Tyrell. Coach Darrell Curls, assistant Tommy Brett and assistant Cecil Cheshire would like to thank you for your support throughout the season and look forward to next season.
