Softball: Lady Bulldogs beat Ft. White

Live Oak — The Suwannee High School Lady Bulldog softball team brought the heat to the Ft. White Indians  Thursday, Feb. 21. Host Suwannee scored a nice win over the Indians, 10-2.

Suwannee improves its record to 3-1.

The Lady ‘Dogs put five on the board in the first and kept the Indians to their two scores in the first inning. From there, Suwannee continued to run batters in until the final fifth inning.

Senior shortstop Jessie TenBroeck was the player of the game. She reached base four times with one hit, two walks and a HBP. She also scored four runs with seven stolen bases.

“Again, Jessie got on base with a hit, two walks and a hit by pitch to score four runs with seven stolen bases, said softball coach Tommy Chambers.

Chambers said Timberly Steichen continued her hot streak with a home run and collecting two hits with two runs batted in.

“Steichen was injured on her elbow by a thrown ball that will keep her sidelined for a week or so,” said Chambers.

He said that Shayla Kicklighter went 2-3 with a run scored and Haejin Choe picked up her third win of the season, allowing two unearned runs and allowing only two hits.

“We’re getting ready for a big home game with Wakulla on Friday,” said Chambers.
