SHS softball: Ladies outscore Rickards

Fall to Columbia, Wakulla

Live Oak — The Suwannee High School Lady Bulldog softball team recently went to bat against three opponents, two in district play and walking away with one win.


The first game was against Columbia at home on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Columbia came out swinging and kept Suwannee scoreless the entire match. Columbia added four to the board in the first, two in the second, two in the fifth and two in the seventh, ending the game 10-0.


Suwannee’s Blakely Burch was the player of the game for SHS. The freshman outfielder made two outstanding catches. She also had a triple for the only extra base hit. 


On Feb. 28, the ladies played Rickards on their turf in a district game. Suwannee smoked Rickards 24-10. 
Jordan Roberts was named SHS player of the game. The freshman catcher was 5-7 with a double, solo home run and a grand slam. She also scored four runs with six runs batted in. 


Blakely Burch hard four runs and three RBIs, Jessie TenBroeck had three runs and three RBIs and Alexis Brown had three runs and one RBI. 


On Friday, the Lady ‘Dogs fell to Wakulla in a district match. The final score was 8-3.


The Ladies are now 4-3 and 1-1 in district play.
