LO boys show off motocross skills

It was an incredible day of racing at the Florida Motoplex Round Six of The Florida Georgia Series hosted by the Florida Motoplex and sanctioned by the Ampxtreme and Florida Georgia Sports Committee.

Moto 15 was exciting as Cody Holdeman and Cole Redd of Valdosta; Lance McConnell of Adel and Dallas Taylor of Live Oak battled hard in the 65cc seven to nine year old class. In moto one Holdeman took the win with Taylor finishing in second and Redd in third with McConnell in fourth.

In moto two Holdeman again was able to win while Taylor went down twice causing him to finish fifth. Redd was able to move up to second with McConnell finishing third.

In the 85cc 12 to 15 class Max Darling of Green Cove springs was able to hold off Amos Townsends of Live Oak who finished second in both motos with a second place over all.

The Penland brothers from Jacksonville dominated both Peewees 50cc seven to eight year old and 50cc four to six taking all the moto wins. In the 50cc beginner class Treven Rogero of St. Augustine took first place. In the 65cc open class Cody Holdeman of Jacksonville led every lap winning both motos for first place over Justin Sorrell of Lake Park. Morgan Johnson of Orange Park took third.

The Super Mini Class saw Andrew Marx of St. Augustine and Mason Batten of Macclenny battle hard with Marx coming out on top for the win.

Lites B saw some great action from Cody Smith of Green Cove Springs who took the win after winning moto two over David Smith of Callahan and Tanner Hughes of Macclenny. Hughes, who had won moto one, had trouble in moto two finishing fourth.

The women’s class saw Lexi Kinds, Crystal Collins and Tracy Forward battle. Lexi Kinds won with a two one finish.

In the 16 to 29 age group, Cody Smith won by winning both motos with an impressive style over David Smith and Josh friebell.

Things really got exciting in the open money class with Brian Gray, Scott Garritson and Brad Garritson. Scott Garritson got the whole shot and was able to hold the lead for all five laps winning by inches over Gray. Scott Garritson continued in the second moto with another whole shot but Gray wasn’t having it, pushing his 252 stroke into the lead on lap three and never looked back. He took the moto two win and the over all win. Scott Garritson finished in second with Brad Garritson finishing third.
