The Suwannee High School girls softball team outplayed Newberry March 2, 17-3. Junior Maegan Olson led the team 3-3, hitting with a double and a home run.
On Feb. 26, the girls hosted Santa Fe. The Bulldogs were shut out 4-0.
"We only had one hit in the game," said coach Tommy Chambers. "Santa Fe is really the best team at this point in the the district."
Before playing Santa Fe, the girls beat Hamilton 11-1, Feb. 23. Sophomore Tinsley Smith threw one hitter while striking out seven.
On Feb. 19, Suwannee lost a hard fought game at home to Ft. White, 7-5. Freshman Jessie Tenbroeck went 2-3 and freshmen Destiny Perrin went 3-4 with two RBIs.
Suwannee plays Madison on their field tomorrow night at 6 p.m. before traveling to Alachua for the Santa Fe Tournament. The Lady 'Dogs will then return home for two key district games on March 16 against Newberry and March 19 against Williston.
