Lady ‘Dogs beat Trojans, again

JV beats Paxon, varsity ties

Live Oak — The Suwannee High School Lady Bulldogs traveled to Hamilton County Nov. 1 to face the Lady Trojans for the second time in a week.

The Lady Trojans seemed determined to make a game of it against the Lady ‘Dogs varsity team and that was evident immediately. The Lady ‘Dogs were kept from scoring their first goal with only four minutes left in the first half. The Hamilton County High School varsity team pressed hard the entire game and played with a lot of heart. The result, however, was a 3-0 win for Suwannee. The Lady ‘Dogs scoring was by Kayla Watson with one, Riley Walczak with one and Captain Grace Brett with two goals.

The JV Lady ‘Dogs had a relatively easy night as they won their game 8-0 with the final goal coming at the 20 minute mark in the second half. The scoring was done by holding midfielder Megan Letu who also had an assist in the game, Shan Johnson who had two goals and two assists, Zulema Quiterio who had a hat trick, Ayla Pidgeon with one goal and Patricia Jurado who scored two goals.

Both teams traveled to Jacksonville on Friday night, Nov. 3 to play Paxon on the somewhat neutral field of Ed White High School.

The varsity Lady ‘Dogs had a tougher challenge against Paxon’s varsity with a very physical game. There were only a combined 12 shots on goal between both teams and defense was the name of this game. The only goal scored by Suwannee was by Captain Grace Brett but, unfortunately, Paxon scored one also and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. This was a district matchup for Suwannee so their overall record so far is 2-0-1, and in district play, 0-0-1, but they also remain undefeated.

The JV team played a hard-nosed game against Paxson’s JV team and had 11 shots on goal. Suwannee remained undefeated at 3-0 with a 2-0 win. The goals were scored by holding midfielder Megan Latu and by Right Winger Emily Watson. Paxon’s JV record is now 0-2
Both team’s played next in Gainesville against Eastside at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
