Live Oak —
The Suwannee Bulldogs lost to the Taylor County Bulldogs Friday, Oct. 26 at Dorsett Stadium in Perry. The final score was 28-20.
Both teams went into the match with a 3-4 record.
Taylor County won the toss and decided to receive the kick from the ‘Dogs.
Taylor fumbled the ball and ‘Dogs recovered it. It proved to be a huge mistake as a couple of plays later, # 24, Jai Kinsey, took it in for a touchdown. So far, Trevor Ross, # 32, has had a great kicking season, but he hooked it wide-right and was unable to get it through the uprights. Taylor got the ball, but after some unsuccessful plays, they punted back to Suwannee. Down at the 15 yard line, Suwannee had an incomplete pass, but # 23, Kyle Stebbins, was able to pick up about three yards. Denzel Washington ran the ball 35 yards, but there was a flag on the play. It was for both teams; pushing by Taylor and holding by Suwannee, so both penalties canceled each other out. The refs put the ball back at the original line of scrimmage, so it was 3rd and 7 for Suwannee. Suwannee picked up a few yards, but not enough for a first down, so it was punt-time back to Taylor. The first pass-play was incomplete for Taylor, but the next paid off. They gained about 36 yards. Taylor, for the next few plays kept getting closer to the goal line, but the ‘Dogs were able to hold them back. Finally, with just over six minutes left in the first quarter, Taylor’s quarterback was able to run it in for a touchdown. They also kicked the extra point bringing the score to 7-6 Taylor. The ball was back and forth for the next several minutes before the quarter ended.
With about nine minutes to go in the first half, Taylor County was able to put it over the line again for another touchdown. The extra point was good. For the next few plays, Suwannee was able to get first downs and move the ball down field. They made it to the three yard line and Kinsey did a spin and was able to get it into the end zone for another Suwannee touchdown. Suwannee completed a successful two-point conversion closing out the first half with a tied score of 14-14.
The second half showed a Bulldog touchdown by Stebbins near the end of the third quarter. The extra point was blocked. Taylor County answered Suwannee’s touchdown with one of their own on next possession. Taylor County put the final score of the night on the board in the fourth quarter, sealing their victory at 28-20.
