Live Oak —
The Suwannee High School ladies soccer teams faced a tough Florida High Tuesday night, Nov. 27 at home.
For the JV team, the first goal of the game was scored by Florida High just six minutes into the game. That was the first time this season that the JV ladies trailed any team. Suwannee got worried when Florida went up 2-0 five minutes later. Suwannee scored its first goal 13 minutes in and never looked back as the rest of their goals were scored in the first half on their way to a win. This was their sixth win of the season and they preserved their undefeated status. The goals were scored by Megan Letu, two by Shan Johnson and one by Patricia Jurado.
Florida had a third goal called back due to an offsides call. Florida High’s JV record as of this game was 4-2-1.
Suwannee JV’s next game is today against District foe Wolfson in Jacksonville.
The varsity ladies anticipated an even more difficult contest against Florida High’s varsity team and that's exactly what they got. No goals were scored until the start of the second half.
Suwannee's goal was scored by Kayla Watson after four shots on goal were attempted all in seconds of each other. Unfortunately for Suwannee, that was the last goal of the night for them even though they had 12 shots on goal.
Florida's keeper stopped 10 shots and their defense played our ladies hard.
Florida's goals came 26 minutes into the second half and it was looking like we would end in a tie. Florida pressed especially hard as the clock ticked down and scored the winning goal with jut a minute and half left in the game.
Suwannee varsity’s record as of this game was 6-1-2 and Florida’s was was 8-3.
Suwannee played Forrest Wednesday night and play Wolfson tonight, both in Jacksonville.
