Jasper —
The Annual Christmas Parade in White Springs Friday night, Nov. 30, had hundreds of folks lining the streets who were anxious to get into the holiday spirit.
Leading off the parade behind the AJROTC Color Guard were the Riding Ranchers from the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. Following the Riding Ranchers was White Springs Mayor Helen Miller and her chauffeur (husband) Ed Miller.
After a procession of floats that included the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners entry, and a fine showing of various fire and law enforcement vehicles, Santa Claus brought up the rear of the parade to the squeals of delight from all the children along the street.
According to White Springs correspondent Johnny Bullard the float winners were Divonia Baptist Church, South Hamilton Elementary and the Hamilton County School Board Transportation Department's Bus Barn.
After the parade everyone was invited into Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park for the official unveiling of the Festival of Lights, which will run through the month of December.
