VIDEO: Shooting victim dumped from car outside hospital

Cops hunt for clues to Saturday incident

KOKOMO, Ind. — Police in Indiana are looking for a car that was caught on a surveillance camera dumping a shooting victim outside a hospital and speeding away.

The victim, 23-year-old Darius Liggin of Kokomo, Ind., was found shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday outside the St. Joseph Hospital Emergency Room. He had a gunshot wound to his left leg and a cut on his left arm.

“The video shows the victim literally being dumped out of the car,” said Detective Mike Banush.

The passenger door was not even closed as the driver pulled away, he said.

Liggin is refusing to cooperate with a Kokomo Police Department investigation, leaving detectives to pursue other witnesses.

With Liggin not talking, Banush said the investigation has turned toward the driver of a car caught on the hospital’s surveillance cameras.

The video shows Liggin lying on the road near the entrance of the hospital, struggling to pull himself toward the building for two minutes before someone entering the hospital notices him. A few moments later, several hospital employees rush to his aid.

Details for this story were reported by the Kokomo, Ind., Tribune.
