Shannon heading home

Woman formerly known as Jane Doe scheduled to be released from rehab Saturday

Live Oak — Shannon Wrench, formerly known as Jane Doe, is scheduled to leave Florida with her mother Saturday, according to Suwannee County Sheriff Victim Advocate Missy Norris.

Norris said she spoke with Wrench’s mother this week. Norris said that Wrench, 34, is out of Shands UF and was in a Gainesville rehabilitation center. Norris said that her mother, Kathy Bateman, is scheduled to take her daughter back to Illinois Saturday.

Wrench, of Rantoul, Illinois, awoke from a coma Aug. 7 in which she had been in since July 16, when she was found along a Suwannee County roadway badly injured. She was identified Aug. 9 through fingerprint analysis.

Wrench was found in a highly weeded area about 30 feet off of 153rd Road North, near US 90 West around 10 a.m. July 16 by a passenger in a passing vehicle.
She had suffered from blunt force trauma to the head and suffered multiple bruises and swelling.

Shawn Patrick O'Bryan, 38, also of Rantoul, Illinois, who was a friend of Wrench’s, was arrested Aug. 10 by the Rantoul Police Department on a charge of attempted first degree murder of Wrench.
