Live Oak —
The drainage system located by the Live Oak water tower at the corner of Walker Avenue and Mary Mac Street SW was gushing water Thursday morning, covering parts of Mary Mac.
Public Works Director Brent Whitman said operators at the water plant were running high service pumps to test them, forcing water to gush out of the drainage system.
“They were running them manually, running operation tests,” said Whitman.
About every three seconds, hundreds of gallons would come shooting out of the drainage mouth.
Whitman said that about 1,000 gallons a minute rushed from the drain.
“I started getting texts about it at about 7:39 a.m., so they ran for about 15 minutes,” said Whitman.
