Live Oak home gutted by fire

Live Oak — A White Avenue home in Live Oak was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the structure fire just after 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, according to Live Oak Fire Department Training and Safety Officer Alan Bedenbaugh.

Bedenbaugh reported that there was no one home at the 524 White Ave. residence and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

“The fire is still under investigation and it could be sometime next week before we know anything,” Bedenbaugh said.

Suwannee County resident Roscoe Chauncey said that his son, John, had worked diligently preparing the home to move into and was really excited about living there. Chauncey emphasized that he was just grateful that nobody was injured during the fire.

Ironically, the downstairs portion of the home was flooded a few weeks ago from Tropical Storm Debby.
