Live Oak —
Early voting ends Saturday at 4 p.m. and as of Thursday morning, 2,638 have cast their ballot, according to Supervisor of Elections Glenda Williams.
“I am delighted. I wish we could have this kind of turnout every election,” said Williams.
Early voting began Saturday, Oct. 27.
Williams’ office has also received 3,323 absentee ballots back in the mail to be counted.
“So more people are now opting to vote by absentee and there are a lot of groups out there that are pushing the vote by mail method,” said Williams.
In the 2008 presidential election, 5,246 voted early and 3,471 voted by absentee.
In the 2010 governors election, 2,446 voted early while 2,606 voted by absentee.
“We encourage everyone to come in and early vote if you have any concerns that you may not be able to go to your precinct on election day,” said Williams.
Williams’ office is temporarily located in the restored passenger train depot at 210 Ohio Avenue North.
You can vote early at the elections office or at the Branford Library Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
