Live Oak —
A gateway sign committee has selected new signs to welcome visitors into the city of Live Oak, Community Revitalization Agency Director Shannon Ventry said.
According to Ventry, the committee will recommend the design to the CRA Board during its meeting Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
Assuming the CRA Board accepts the recommendation of the gateway sign committee, the project of placing new signs welcoming people to historic Live Oak can move forward, Ventry said.
“These signs will be the first things people see when they come into town and they will definitely be an asset because of their appealing design,” CRA Chairman Ed Rewis said.
Ventry explained the signs will be installed along the main corridors into Live Oak, along U.S. 129 North and South, U.S. 90 East and West and S.R. 51, as previously decided.
“Local vendors are encouraged to bid on the project,” Ventry emphasized.
Those interested in the bidding process should contact Ventry at (386) 362-2276 or email her at sventry@cityofliveoak.org with their contact information.
According to Ventry, the new signs will be approximately eight feet wide and five feet high. Due to guidelines, they cannot exceed this size, Ventry explained.
The existing welcome signs on U.S. 129 will likely be relocated, Ventry said. The designer of those signs has agreed to renovate and relocate them.
Ventry reminds everyone that the Tuesday evening meeting at City Hall is open to the public and the CRA welcomes citizen input as the agency moves forward with plans to beautify and generate business in the downtown district.
