Wednesday crash results in fatality

Live Oak —

A vehicle accident resulting in a fatality occurred on Oct. 3 at 12:45 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
 
Driver, Jonathan Michael Matthews, 21, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Suwannee County Fire/Rescue.
 
According to the FHP, Matthews, driver of a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck along with passenger Dillon Wayne Gardner, 18, were traveling southbound on CR 249 approximately 6.5 miles north of Live Oak.
 
While negotiating a curve to the left, the right side of the tires of the truck traveled off the roadway onto the west grass shoulder where the driver over-corrected and lost control. The truck traveled back across the roadway and onto the east grass shoulder where it overturned and struck a tree with it’s roof. The driver, Matthews, was ejected and the truck came to final rest on it’s roof on top of him. Gardner was flown to Shands UF in critical condition.
