Log truck overturns

Live Oak — The driver of a log truck that overturned at the corner of CR 249 and 16th Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday escaped with only minor injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. There were no other vehicles involved.

According to FHP, Gustavo Hurtado, 30, of Miami, was driving a white GMC semi truck northbound on CR 249 through a series of curves. The truck was traveling through a right hand curve, hauling a load of pine logs, when it crossed the center line, partially into the southbound lane. Due to the vehicle’s speed, its load and the sharp, right hand curve, the truck overturned, spilling the logs onto the roadway and eastern grassy shoulder, according to FHP.

The truck came to a rest on its left side facing in a northerly direction. The truck and trailer blocked the roadway for about three hours.

Hurtado was wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.

Suwannee County Fire/Rescue and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
