Branford —
Branford High School football (3-5) coach Roy Harden is in his first year at BHS and is looking to tonight’s last district game of the season with Lafayette High School (6-2).
This will prove to be a tough game for the Buccaneers who will face a formidable rival.
Lafayette High School seems to be on a roll with only two losses and sitting on a perfect district record at 2-0.
“We have to continue focusing on working hard to get better every week no matter who our opponent will be,” said Harden. “Lafayette has a very strong team this year. Offensively they have multiple players that are capable of making plays for their team. Coach (Joey) Pearson and his staff do an excellent job coaching.”
Harden said his team prepares for each game based on what they expect them to run “offensively and defensively” each week.
Harden knows that maintaing a successful football program is more than just X’s and O’s. He said the team must also have a strong work ethic.
“We have to get the players to work as hard as they can every day so that we believe that we can be competitive every week during the football season,” said Harden.
The Buccaneers are in Mayo tonight. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
