Suwannee Forestry Center not issuing burn authorizations due to high wind conditions and low humidity

Live Oak — The Suwannee Forestry Center currently is not issuing burn authorizations due to high wind conditions and low humidity.

Individuals who normally do not require an authorization for burning yard debris are strongly advised against burning at this time.

The current Fire Danger Index is rated at high-to-very high within our six county district. A graphic depiction and explanation of the Fire Danger Index can be found on the Internet at http://flame.fl-dof.com/fire_danger/wims-report.html

High winds, low humidity and dry fuels combine to make a very high-risk environment. Any fire that starts will be extremely difficult to control. If it starts to spread it will be very difficult to contain.

As conditions improve, contact Suwannee Forestry Center at 386-758-5700 for the latest information and advice on burning.
