Sawmill contract still not signed by Klausner

Live Oak — The contract between Klausner Lumber One, LLC and Suwannee County has still not been signed yet by Klausner, according to Bill Graham, county-hired attorney who has been handling contract negotiations.

“The contract has not been signed. Klausner wants to come next week to talk,” said Graham.

The Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners voted 3-1 in favor of the contract Tuesday night. If the contract is signed by Klausner then the company will build a state-of-the-art sawmill in western Suwannee County. Commissioner Jesse Caruthers was not at the meeting due to illness. Commissioners Clyde Fleming, Ivie Fowler and Wesley Wainwright voted in favor. Commissioner Phil Oxendine voted against.

Talks between Klausner and the county have been ongoing for almost two years.

The multi-million dollar sawmill’s location site would be located at the US 90 West and I-10 interchange.
