Live Oak —
Pepper’s Little Helpers daycare center at the corner of Goldkist Blvd. and 11th Street in Live Oak caught fire just a little after 1 p.m. on Tuesday after an electrical wire came loose from a pole and grounded out the building’s electrical system. There were no injuries and all the kids in the building, as well as adults, were quickly evacuated. The flames were contained to the kitchen and quickly extinguished.
“The stove overheated and caught on fire and caused some electrical appliances to ground out,” stated James Sommers, Suwannee County Fire/Rescue interim public safety director. “Everyone was safely evacuated from the building and no one was injured.”
Suwannee Valley Electric was on hand for inspection.
