Two Mayo women take first place in art contest

Mayo — Two members of the Mayo Woman’s Club have won first place locally in an art contest sponsored by the GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Mayo Woman’s Club President Marie O’Steen said, “These first place winners will be entered at the district competition in February.”

First place winner in acrylics is Nancy Singletary with her entry titled “Ringeaux and Nancy”, and first place in color photography in the sub category of Photo Feature is Pam Ward.

Singletary said her drawing was taken from a photograph she took in 2007.

“I just painted it within the last month,” she said.

Ward said she took her photograph while in Amish country in Pennsylvania.

“It’s Amish wash day,” she said.

Best of luck to these two women in the district competition!
